No.
Not all music classes are created equal.
The majority of the the
popular early childhood music programs available today
DO NOT require their teachers the following: bachelor's
degree in music, piano proficiency and vocal background.
Ofthen the only requirements to teach these programs are
that you love music & get a week of training (often less)
to receive certification.
Compare
this to our requirements:
To
ensure that our families receive the highest quality instruction,
all of New Mozart's Harmony Road teachers go through a minimum
of an internship in addition to the rigorous Harmony Road
certification process. We also require a bachelor's degree
in music, as well as piano and vocal background.
Very
few programs will require this highest standard in hiring
teachers because frankly, there aren't that many teachers
who can sing and play the piano and are expert early childhood
music educators.
We
go the extra steps to find the highest quality teachers
and train them properly so that you can experience the
very BEST!
We do so much more than just
have fun although we have lots of that as well!
Other popular children's
music classes focus on achieving basic musical competence
and general enjoyment of music. We do so much more! Our
children learn to sing in solfege (do-re-mi), play the
piano, and WRITE MUSIC (Harmony Road II & up)
in addition to all the other fun stuff like singing, dancing,
and playing on rhythm instruments.
Fun is an essential part
of our process but we also believe that children are capable
of so much more!
In
New Mozart's Harmony Road, our children learn musical
skills and concepts that will forever impact how they
learn music in private lessons down the road.

New
Mozart has been bringing the joy of music to young children
through Harmony Road since 2005, and many of our most
talented private lesson students today are graduates of
Harmony Road.
I
loved that Abi made so much progress on learning the keyboard,
even though she was having so much fun she didn't even notice
she was learning. She went from 'hunt and peck' to playing
with five fingers on both hands (at age 3)!
This
has been one of the most important activities my daughter
has participated in over the past year which has contributed
positively to her overall self-esteem, love for music and
development of her internal understanding of her own creativity
and imagination.
After
attending the first Toddler Tunes class, my two and a half
year old son loved it. He amazed me one day when I heard
him singing "do do sol sol la la sol...¨ (twinkle twinkle
little star) while he was playing with his toys. That was
after his third class!

The Harmony Road course is
carefully constructed for children to learn the basic building
blocks of music. Emphasis is on ear training, solfege singing,
keyboard playing, ensemble and rhythm activities, movement
and music creativity. This exceptional course gives the
student "inner hearing", which makes transposing, improvisation
and composing easily accessible in their musical studies.
Parents and caregivers are fully involved in class and at
